The Dream Farmers home town is Sebastopol , Ca. in Sonoma County's "Wine Country", North of San Francisco. They are a close knit group of musicians who have a fresh California sound effected by rural and urban life styles , the immense natural beauty of their surroundings, institutions of higher learning, travel and a solid skill in their art gained from years of experience playing many types of music. They are influenced by: blues, soul, R&B, Jazz, Funk, English invasion, and ethnic music from around the planet . Not just the sonic , but also the life styles, dance, art and cultural components as well. Being able to have had personal contact with amazing first line innovators like Jr.Wells, Johnny Otis, Nick Gravenites , Buddy Guy, Roy Rogers and others who took time to tutor has been a real gift of influence. The love of all black roots music informs their sound and adds to the funk factor. The 60's and 70's music mattered deeply to the whole planet. Infused with the heat of the times and one of the gears of change away from dogma and status quo acceptance. Potent stuff ingrained in the lexicon of their musical template along with a passport and permission to experiment. The Dream Farmers are honoring the power of music and words, hooked on hooks, massaged into cohesive song. Songs first, technology second. Hopefully their tunes will resonate as some kind of reminder of the common human experience. Autobiographical , political, danceable, topical, tropical , every song must have an inspired reason to be born. The collaboration aspect in their songs shows they share a passion for the music and the experience of playing together. The Dream Farmers are not afraid to enjoy and use the moment to transport. We Dream Farmers think it would be great if environmental stewardship, education and the arts could beat out greed in the biological imperative race here on the planet.
